The «Lisière» project brings a touch of poetry to Strasbourg
The redevelopment of the Wacken district in Strasbourg was reimagined by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma to accommodate both national and international events.
The project to build a new exhibition center was initiated due to the outdated existing halls. In October 2018, EMS commissioned SERS to construct the new “Parc des Expositions de Strasbourg (PEX)”. With more than 25,000 m² of covered exhibition space, the complex will comprise four exhibition halls. In addition, a parking garage with 900 parking spaces is planned.
Kengo Kuma’s design features a timber and steel structure, locally sourced materials, minimalist forms, and an interplay with the water of the diversion canal. Sustainability goals are integrated through a comprehensive environmental concept. SOTRALENTZ Construction has already supplied more than 300 tons of specialized mats for paving four halls covering an area of approximately 23,650 m².
