Segmental Lining Reinforcement for Tunnel Project
Following the opening of the first metro line in 1993 and the second in 2007, Line C is scheduled to open in 2028. It will directly serve the western, northern, eastern and south-eastern parts of the Greater Toulouse metropolitan area, connecting the municipalities of Colomiers, Blagnac, Toulouse and Labège. The new line will be approximately 27 kilometres long. Most of the route will run underground and will include a viaduct at its southern end.
The line will comprise 21 stations (17 underground and 4 above ground). In addition, 18 underground auxiliary structures will be constructed to support its operation. The tunnel will be built using tunnel boring machines, which excavate the ground while simultaneously installing a reinforced concrete lining to prevent ground deformation and settlement.
In partnership with the precast concrete manufacturer NGE Génie Civil, SOTRALENTZ CONSTRUCTION is supplying approximately 500 tonnes of reinforcement cages for the tunnel segments (Tübbings) of Toulouse Metro Line C, Lots 1 and 2. Deliveries commenced in February 2024 and will continue until the end of 2025.
