Striking building for European trade fair
‘Lisière’ project brings a touch of poetry to Strasbourg
The redesign of the Wacken site for national and international events in Strasbourg was planned by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The project to build a new exhibition centre had arisen due to the outdated halls. In October 2018, the EMS commissioned SERS with the construction of the new ‘Parc des Expositions de Strasbourg (PEX)’. With over 25,000 m² of covered exhibition space, the area will be spread over four halls. A multi-storey car park with 900 parking spaces is also planned.
Kengo Kuma has opted for a wood and steel construction, local materials, simple shapes and a playful use of the water of the diversion canal. Sustainable goals are incorporated through a comprehensive environmental concept. SOTRALENTZ CONSTRUCTION has supplied more than 300 tonnes of list mats for the floor slabs of four halls with an area of approx. 23,650 m².
