SÜLZLE is once again a “Best Managed Company Germany
Values and sustainability as a foundation and source of success
For the third time in a row, the SÜLZLE Group is the winner of the seal of approval for excellently managed companies awarded by Deloitte Private, Credit Suisse, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. (Federation of German Industries). “As a winner of the Best Managed Companies Award, SÜLZLE has once again successfully demonstrated its outstanding corporate management. The Rosenfelder Group of Companies is thus not only a benchmark for German SMEs, but also a symbol of strong and thoughtful management in turbulent times,” says Markus Seiz, Best Managed Company program manager and director at Deloitte Private.
The SÜLZLE Group was presented with the “Best Managed Companies Award Germany” in Düsseldorf on May 12, 2022. Sustainable action and economic success have been inseparable for the family-run group of companies for 142 years. But the Rosenfelders don’t feel like celebrating: “Especially in these difficult times with inhumane wars like the one in Ukraine and their enormous consequences, it becomes clear once again how relevant a value-oriented, partnership-based and sustainable corporate philosophy is,” says Andreas Sülzle, Managing Partner of the SÜLZLE Group.
“The consequences of war, the worldwide corona pandemic and climate change have heralded a global turn of times. The drastic price increases and supply chain bottlenecks in the energy and raw materials markets will also present us with unprecedented challenges,” adds Heinrich Sülzle, who is the fourth generation to run the Rosenfeld-based company together with his brother Andreas. But the managing directors remain optimistic and stick to their basic principles such as honesty as well as an open, positive attitude and, above all, the courage to change. “Our employees, suppliers and partners form the backbone of our group of companies and help shape our direction day by day, even in turbulent times,” Sülzle continues.
Triad of ecological, economic and social values
The company’s development can also be described as extremely sustainable: SÜLZLE has grown steadily through investments and innovations over several generations. Ecological and social commitment, in addition to economic thinking and action, characterize the sustainable success of the medium-sized family business. Under the management of today’s shareholders, a strong group of companies has emerged since the turn of the millennium, bringing together “steel, energy and ideas” in a symbiotic relationship. Around 1,000 employees work in nine business units in steel trading, steel and plant construction, and building and environmental technology at 29 locations in Germany and France.
Since October 2021, all of the Group’s operating business units have been climate-neutral. As the first rebar distributor in Germany, SÜLZLE Stahlpartner also offers its customers the opportunity to purchase “green steel”. In order to offset previously unavoidable CO2 pollution from steel, customers can purchase high-quality climate protection certificates to compensate for this and, when purchasing CO2-neutral steel, have their support of global projects and the associated climate neutrality for the purchased reinforcing steel certified by certificate.
Participation in markets of the future
The SÜLZLE Group invests in young start-up companies that are committed to the issues of the future: ARCUS Greencycling Technologies GmbH and Amodes GmbH want to revolutionize the markets in the field of raw material recovery and environmentally friendly water desludging. And with the “Green Innovation Park”, an extraordinary lighthouse project is being created south of Stuttgart on the initiative of the Sülzle family. The new innovation campus is to become the central address for national and international companies, start-ups and scale-ups from the fields of energy, construction, ecology and digitalization working together on sustainable innovations in two construction phases by 2030 on an area of around 80,000 m². A pioneering future project by and for people.
“Strategic foresight and responsible action are core qualities of a Best Managed Company like the SÜLZLE Group. These qualities are prerequisites of a strong economy. To promote them, the award winners have access to a global ecosystem of excellently managed medium-sized companies from now more than 40 countries,” emphasizes Lutz Meyer, Partner at Deloitte Private.
