Customized reinforcements for Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

09.09.2020

Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport is the largest airport in France with over 76 million passengers a year and the second largest in Europe after London Heathrow. The international hub northeast of Paris is constantly being expanded and modernized, from hangars and parking areas to runways and flight terminals. With over 600 companies and some 75,500 employees, CDG airport is the international hub of Air France and one of the most important business locations in the Île-de-France region.
The reinforcement specialists of SOTRALENTZ CONSTRUCTION have now been awarded the contract to supply a major civil engineering project in the freight sector. The parking lots and taxiways on the 3,500-hectare airport site have to withstand the tonne loads of thousands of planes every day. A decisive factor for the stability and durability of the concrete surfaces is the quality of the reinforcement. For the construction of an aircraft parking lot for the cargo airline FedEx Express, SOTRALENTZ is supplying reinforcement elements consisting of 140,000 pieces of 500 mm dowels with a diameter of 30 mm, pre-assembled and ready for installation on a total of 27,000 m of dowel cages. With these, around 70,000 square meters of parking and traffic space will be created in three construction phases until spring 2021. The SÜLZLE Group says “Chapeau” and congratulates its French colleagues for winning this prestigious project.
