Rail Line Stuttgart-Ulm

Rail line Stuttgart-Ulm in Germany

The Boßler tunnel is being built as part of the major project “Stuttgart 21” in Germany, on the newly constructed line between Wendlingen and Ulm operated by Deutsche Bahn,  The Albaufstieg section of this project is the central section of the new 60 kilometer DB line between Wendlingen and Ulm. Between its starting point in Wendlingen, near Stuttgart, and Ulm, its destination, this line runs from North-West to South-East across the entire mountain chain of the Swabian Jura. The centerpiece of this section of the build is the two-tube Boßler tunnel and the two-tube Steinbühl tunnel.

The Boßler tunnel, with its two parallel single-track tubes, will have an overall length of 8806 meters. On 6 November 2016, after 18 months of uninterrupted mechanical tunneling, the breakthrough at the South portal of the Boßler tunnel was achieved.  SOTRALENTZ CONSTRUCTION is supplying about 900 tons of tubbing for the Boßler tunnel from October 2017 to probably January 2018. To manufacture the reinforcement cages, the Drulingen site will be producing about 40 rings a week.
